  • “They should go. They served their function, however occasions have modified downtown. Too many visitors ty ups and harmful conditions to pedestrians and drivers downtown. Take them to Brackenridge Park or the Pearl.”

  • “Sadly I’ve seen many horses that shouldn’t be pulling carriages. So I assist town. Will probably be missed nonetheless when the welfare can’t be stored and has been an ongoing problem for many years it was lengthy in coming.”

In opposition to the ban:

  • “I simply don’t agree that metropolis council opts to ban a legit, authorized enterprise that has existed for over 100 years. The horses used are bred for pulling and patrons benefit from the expertise. The companies as is succeed, so there’s a need to take these carriage rides. It takes away a vacationer/customer expertise from the allure of our metropolis. What different legit enterprise will probably be focused subsequent and probably eradicated?”

  • “One other blow by metropolis council on small impartial companies! Proving as soon as once more that the downtown space is just for Company Greed!”

  • “These horses are very effectively cared for and usually are not struggling. The unhappy factor is what’s going to occur to the horses after they haven’t any use anymore? Greater than possible they are going to be put down, can’t prepare them to do the rest. If they don’t seem to be turning a revenue, the house owners could not have the funds to maintain them round. It’s unhappy, however it’s the fact.”

  • “This can be a horrible determination. It’s a part of … reminiscences of SA. A part of historical past. So are you going to ban the horses in parades, the longhorns in parades. These households earn a residing creating reminiscences. The horses are effectively taken care of. Good means of supporting small companies.”

  • “That’s tousled say goodbye to a different San Antonio custom.”
